Watercolors, Gouache, Peter Sheeler, Karen Margulis...
I took the last two weeks off while I thought things through... I want to paint like Peter and Karen. It's plain and simple as that.
I want my main watercolor palette to be simple and effective. Just like Peters.
I want my paintings to look like Karen's, but I can accomplish the same art using watercolor and gouache on the top.
So, this is my plan...
I mounted all of my watercolor paints on a board so I can find what I am looking for. Karen uses hundreds of different pastels in her artwork. I needed to find just the right color if I did not feel I could mix it with my base water colors (below).
Next:
Here is the main palette I am using provided by Peter Sheeler with two additions: Payne's Gray and Titanium White.
Using these base water colors for all of my mixing I will paint the entire painting using these paints. At the end of the painting I will use any gouache colors as discord colors, opaque White (tree holes mixed with watercolor for hue), last minute fixes.
Thoughts anyone?
