The Spirit of Giving Is Still Alive and Well
Updated: 5 days ago
I stopped by to see my dear friend today at the grocery store before heading to work and was so touched by her thoughtfulness. As I greeted her, she surprised me with a smile and said, "Here are my car keys—there’s something in the trunk for you."
She’s about to embark on quite an adventure: a month in Mexico, six weeks in Poland come February, and another month in North Carolina in April. Her plans are exciting, full of joy and exploration, and while I’ll miss her dearly during her travels, I’m genuinely happy knowing she’s heading to places she loves. That’s the essence of true friendship—celebrating each other’s happiness without jealousy or unnecessary drama. It’s about respect, honesty, and care, allowing the other person to pursue their journey without resentment or fear of being left behind.
Her gesture today was simple yet so thoughtful. She had tucked away a small pillow in her trunk—something she knew I’d love, picked just for me. It wasn’t about grandeur but about kindness and thoughtfulness, reminding me yet again why she’s such a sweetheart. Safe travels, my friend. You’ll be missed but never far from my thoughts!
