Not a bad start and today's colors...
I’m so impressed with how the canvas turned out! I used a palette knife to drizzle tan, white, and black paint onto the canvas. I spread the three colors around, trying to keep it random and keep the texture intact. It seems to have worked! I love how the paint on top gives it a 3-D look. I decided not to paint any black lines on the undercoats. There’s enough gray/black on the background that I didn’t need to darken it up any more than it already is.
Next, I’ll add the tan/brown, green, neutral blue, and purple highlights. I used a 60ml syringe on the white lines and it worked great! So, for the four colors, I’ll do the same thing but sparingly. Plus a few colored “splats” here and there. Then I’ll top it off with black and white. I might still forgo the black. I won’t know until I get there.
This is actually really easy to do. I agree. Does it require any hard work? Nope! Is it fun playing with the colors? You bet! It’s a blast! That’s what I love about painting. It’s all about the yummy colors and seeing how they interact with each other. No different than when I looked at the Monet Haystack in Las Vegas and couldn’t believe how the shadows of the haystack were made up of all the colors he chose to use. Yellows, blues, greens, and finally purples. But, it was how he placed those colors knowing how they would interact with each other to convey a shadow versus a sun-lit area. So fascinating!
And the next colors I'll be using, muted brown, green, blue, and purple:
Here is the mixed paints that I made from the primary colors, and below that is the semi-finished painting. It needs something else, but I am scratching my head with it. Something really bright? Maybe orange?
