Abstract #2, The Chaos Theory
Just before adding the lighter shades of purple, tan, white, and black, I felt the piece might be a failure. But I’m genuinely pleased with how it turned out! Taking the time to step back and "sleep on it" gave me the clarity I needed to determine the next steps.
I wanted a more vibrant purple, so I took the purple I had mixed two days ago and brightened it with a lot more white, adding water for smoother application. Then I realized the painting needed a stronger tan presence. I mixed my Beach Grass wall paint with some white enamel to get the perfect tone. Finally, I balanced it all with white and black, thinning them out with water for the right consistency.
The result feels just right! I’m thrilled with how it’s coming together, though I noticed two small bubbles in the tan section. I might carefully remove them with a toothpick while the paint is still wet.
If this piece resonates with you, it could be yours! Once framed, I’m considering giving it away for free—just cover shipping and handling. The final frame will be a simple floating tan design, without the black mat shown here. I estimate the painting’s value at around $200, though pricing my work is a topic for another blog post!
